Walter Breen

Obverse 32. Two small chips out of the die in the hair, pointing to E, vertically below B, nearer to the ribbon than to the cap. Four less obvious similar marks on the cheek point to Y. No trace of the pole between hair and cap. B leans right. In the date, 1 is a little closer to the curl than in other obverses of this group. In practice, this die is most easily identified by the clash marks described below.
Reverse MM. Double leaf at OF.

Die states: I. Perfect dies without clash marks.
II. Clash marks from a leaf before the forelock, in the field before the profile, and below the chin. No cracks.
III. Additional obverse clash marks: from the stem pointing to R and from the leaf between the cap and hair below LI, Faint crack through tops of RTY into the field at right and another from the upper lip across the cheek and temple through the hair and into the field pointing to LI.
IV. Third faint crack from the rim to left top of Y. V. Faint crack joins bases of 79 to angle of 4.
