Obverse 5. Hair ends in nine locks with the top lock doubled and the longest one at the middle (sixth, counting from bottom) bent sharply down, its end very close to the fifth. Full shoulder loop. 11 are closer than other letters and RTY are slightly low.

Reverse C. Tops of both ribbons, left and right of the knot, are hollow (in later states, gone). Left ribbon begins in the field at crossing with stem, away from the knot. Pairs of leaves at D and A(M) are narrow and completely separated. Leaf at I(C) is fragmented and in the common die state with advanced bulges it may not be visible. Double leaf below (E)S and triple leaf below O(F) are widely spread and weak. Incomplete leaves below UN, ST, (N)T, and above O(N). Eight berries left and seven right with two minute stemless berries below (A)T. The top berry on the right, above (N)E, is usually weak and often not visible from die failure. Fraction bar nearly touches numerator with high final 0 in the denominator.

Die states: I. No obverse cracks, no clash marks, and no mounds. Scarce.
