Obverse 9. Ends of five locks in a nearly vertical straight line (counting upward, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and eighth). Tiny chip in the field left of the fourth curl point. Faint hollow shoulder loop. Top of 9 is above the other digits.
Reverse E.
Die states: I. No obverse cracks. Long chip out of the die from rim above space between 5 0, pointing to o. Heavy clash mark from hair, junction of hair and neck truncation, pole, and profile. III. Faint crack from the rim to top of the cap.
IV. Faint cracks from the rim into the field about 4:30 and from the cap into field, later extending through the base of L to I.
V. Faint crack from base of the cap into the field, narrowly missing the fifth lock, later to three lowest locks.
VI. Faint crack from the rim to nose.
VII. Crack from the rim to the crack of state V, passing about 1 millimeter below the cap.

VIII. Very faint crack, nearly vertical, joining the crack of state VI with the first of state IV. Reverse has triple clash marks from the cap and top of head.
