Die states: I. Perfect obverse. Extremely rare. This die state was unknown to Sheldon. II. Flaw or crack from the rim to the right top Y. At least three sets of clash marks on either side.

III. Cracked from the rim to top of A(M). Equivalents: Gilbert 3. McGirk 6A. Ross 3-C. Sheldon 98. EAC 21. Clapp-Newcomb 3. Encyclopedia 1688.

Remarks: Obverse is similar to dies 11, 12, and 18, and was probably made in the same batch.

Struck on concavo-convex blanks. The John S. Ashby collection contained a flipover double strike.
