Remarks: Ed Kucia has a state ill coin with the reverse double struck in situ (same principle as double profiles). The Jack H. Robinson coin (lot 277) is similarly double struck with the evidence visible on both sides. John D. Wright has an example off-center at K-9. Lot 667 in the Ruby sale was an example double struck with the first strike 5% off-center and with 10° rotation between the two strikes. See "Oops!" chapter.

Obverse 15. I slightly below bases of L and B, R almost touches hair, and 7 free of the drapery.
Reverse O. Very short fraction bar with a die scratch to the right ribbon. Another die scratch extends from the left stem end to near base of u. Sharp impressions show a double stem to the lowest outer left berry (partly buried in leaf). D high. Chip on left side of u.
Edge: Plain.
Die states: I. Perfect obverse. Faint bulge develops from the rim to hair, where the crack of state II later appears.
Base of B is broken. In later states, this letter is patched.
II. Faint crack through tops of IBER, later extending to the top of L and to the rim above T. Cracked from rim to hair above low curls. Another from same point of the rim to the low curl and 1. Buckling begins between these cracks. Clash marks from dentils below the date, continue along the border to opposite mouth.
III. Clash marks from drapery at s to above OF and from dentils above F AME.
