VII. Obverse cracked from the rim at about 8:00 to behind hair. Extensive rust develops. Reverse leaves and wreath stem below STA are attenuated. Cracked from the leaf to right stem, ribbon, final 0, and later between 00 to the rim.
Equivalents: Proskey 10. Doughty 101. McGirk 13A.
Clapp-Newcomb 20. Sheldon 137. EAC 16. Encyclopedia 1706.
High Rarity 2.
Remarks: Only two have been seen with beaded edge. I discovered the first one in Jack Beymer's stock at a Long Beach convention, June 1987. The second is in low grade. All condition census coins need to be rechecked for edge type.
One has been seen double struck with the second strike rotated about 25° from the first. This was lot 272 in the sale of Jack H. Robinson's collection and has a plain edge.
