Obverse 29. Always with the horizontal crack below the ribbon and the crack from rim to end of the drapery, as in number 41, state III. Date is normal, not weak as on the preceding.

Reverse FF. Type of 1797, Style II letters. "Large Fraction:" large 100 overpunched on shorter numerals, crowded between the ribbons. Six berries left and five right. ONE is too far left, the 0 almost touches a leaf, and the top of N is high. Irregularly spaced legend: IT lean right, TED are well apart, TAT are still farther apart, and ES are high, leaning right

Edge: Plain edge (PE).

Die states: I. As number 41 state ill, but a crack extends through the tops of LIBER. On worn examples, tops of USER blur into the rim and the crack may not be visible. Clapp 30c-DD.

II. The crack from rim to drapery now extends across the drapery and hair to the left rim. The horizontal crack, of number 41 state I, extends to the round back curl. New faint cracks: from the rim to upper ribbon end, from the rim to lower ribbon end, from the base of T to highest wave of hair, from y to forelock, and from the rim to tip of the nose. Rim break above L, at first very small, in later states extending above us. Clapp 30d-DD.

III. Curved crack from the rim right of 8, through the drapery, and back to the rim. Clapp 30e-DD.

IV. Rim break joins the drapery right of 8.

Remarks: The large 1 and 0 punches in the fraction occur nowhere else in the series, nor are they yet identified on any other denomination.
