IV. The obverse has a second crack through the date, parallel to the first. Reverse cracks from rim to rim near (E)S and O(F) and from rim to right arm of (A)T in an arc to A(M) and back to rim. Extremely rare, discovered about 1957.

Equivalents: McGirk 1C, Clapp 38. Sheldon 178. EAC26.

High Rarity 5.

Remarks: Discovered by James A. Walker before 1913 and first described by Dr. Charles E. McGirk.

Usually on poor rough Coltman planchets. The condition of the obverse die partly accounts for the variety's characteristic appearance of weakness.

At least one is overstruck on an unidentifiable undertype, apparently not a cent." One is tempted to wonder if it is another Anglesey Mines token, as in number 24, and if other such overstrikes exist among numbers 24-26.
