Obverse 4.
Reverse F. Chip near the border below the left ribbon end. Numerator is skewed slightly to the right. Leaf point below center of the upright of D and very close to it. In CENT, E leans right and T is high. Fraction bar shorter than on number 6.
Edge: Usually with reeded edge (RE), although some-times with plain edge (PE).
Die states: I. Obverse buckling behind the ribbon, at first faint.
II. Obverse diagonally cracked from the rim behind ribbon into the field. Clapp 7b-G.
III. Reverse cracked from the rim above (C)A to ribbon ends, numerator, stems, and the wreath. Another crack from the rim between F A through triplet to the top right leaf pair, eventually into the field below A(T). Clapp 7bGb (not in his book).
IV. Obverse has an additional crack behind the head parallel to that of state II. Buckling advances. Clapp 7c-Gb.
V. Reverse cracked from the rim through upright of (M)E to wreath, at first faint, eventually to the top of (N)T. Buckling through D ST and adjacent wreath., also at first faint.
VI. Obverse rim break at 7:00, confined to the dentils. Centering may not permit this to show. Reverse buckled at the crack of state V.
VII. Two almost parallel cracks of states IT and N (left rim to end of lower ribbon and left rim to between ribbon ends) extend into ribbons.
VIII. Cracked from the rim through chip and left ribbon to near base of u. Clapp 7c-Gc.
