Obverse 14. Spur on the lower right curve of 9. Always with the three vertical field cracks of number 17, state IV.

Reverse N. Wide fraction spaced 1 00, the numerator almost touches the fraction bar. Die scratch from fraction bar extends almost to the right ribbon. Minute triangular die chip on the outer leaf edge below I(T) with two more atop the left stem. Right stem almost touches the lowest leaf.

Edge: Plain edge (PE) and double-flange edge (DFE). Die states: I. Obverse as in number 17, state IV. No branch crack to L.

II. Innermost of the three obverse cracks extends to the rim with a branch through the tops of u, later through LIB. Clapp 16c-N.

III. Cracked from the rim above A(T) through TE, to lower leaf of the right terminal pair. Clapp 16c-Nb.

IV. Cracked from the rim between D 5 up through the wreath, to the crack of state II. Nearly vertical crack from the rim through ES. Another crack from rim between F A extending later to the wreath. A crack from the tops of OF joins the rim. A branch of the state II crack extends through TA. A crack from the rim above N through the tops of ITE, with a branch from the rim to center of top of T. A defect above the right top of M. Clapp 16c-Nc.

V. Dentils clash marked above LIB and left. Rim crumbling at lower right. Heavy rust. Reverse clash marks, from obverse dentils, above UN and through fraction to right.

VI. Dies reground to remove clash marks.
