Obverse 11. Lower curve of 3 is thin, weak, and irregular, its knob unusually small, and its top well away from the drapery. LIBERTY is more widely spaced than on previous dies. Die defect joins two curls below the ear.

Die states: 1. At least five sets of clash marks from the leaves near ribbon and right of the throat. Reverse cracked from the rim through tops of STATE. Clash marks from drapery at, and left of, O(F). Newcomb 12-Nc.
II. Obverse has at least eight sets of clash marks in the same areas. Bulge develops behind the curls. Reverse has at least six sets of clash marks. The crack through STATE becomes heavy.
III. Obverse has heavier clash marks and the 3 is weaker than ever. Reverse cracked from the rim to left top of T(A).
Another from the rim to right top of (A)r. Crack through tops of TA becomes heavy. The reverse border is weak. Very rare.
