Obverse 9. Gap between dentils about 8:30. (On most other obverse dies from 1802 on, two dentils are squeezed together at this point.) E is low and close to R. Corner of 3 just touches the drapery and 1 leans right more than does 8.

Reverse M. Fraction bar skewed left. AT almost touch. Long spine from right stem end to final A. Base of A is minutely below M. Spur from dentil between UN and smaller spurs from dentils near STA. TS have broken right feet, that at T(A) less so than the rest.

Die states: I. Perfect dies. "Newcomb 10-1."

II. Reverse cracked from the rim through D, wreath, and right foot of E(S), to the rim between ES. Newcomb 10-Lb.

Ill, Obverse has clash marks from leaves above the hair ribbon. Cracked from the rim to base of 8, later extending in an arc through 8, to drapery, and to the rim at right.

IV. Obverse has additional clash marks from leaves below the hair ribbon. Reverse crack from rim through O(F) joins terminal leaves. Bulge beginning at TA. Newcomb 10b-Lc.

V. Buckling in the right obverse field. Reverse rim break on (S)T. Crack from rim between AM to wreath near (N)E. The long spine from stem end is fading out. Clash marks from hair within the wreath. Newcomb 10b-Ld.

VI. Advanced buckling behind ribbon, before face, and at OF.
