Die states: I. Reverse has at least 10 sets of clash marks, plainest from drapery between s 0, right of (N)E to F, and from hair within wreath. Dentils are weak. Newcomb 6-H.
II. Cracks from rim to lowest curl to center of 1; through base of date; from rim down to end of drapery; and through tops of LIBE to rim. Newcomb 6b-H.

III. Crack through base of date now extends below curl to rim at left.
IV. Reverse crack from rim through E(D) to the wreath. Newcomb 6c-Hb.
V. Reverse crack extends through N(E), wreath, and O(F) to the rim. Newcomb 6c-Hc.
VI. Rim break joins 18 and extends below the lowest curl. Very rare.
VII. Another piece has fallen from the die: a rim break now joins the middle base of the lowest curl. Very rare.

VIII. Still another piece out of the die: rim break of state VI now extends well beyond the left edge of the lowest curl.
