Reverse B. Wide fraction with the numerator partly above the space between zeros. Incomplete loops to ribbon bows. Stemless leaves right of (N)T. I is below N and T. AM lean right with base of A below M and E higher.
Die states: I. As number 1, state V. Newcomb 1bb-B.
II. At least four new sets of very faint clash marks appear below the chin. Faint crack from the rim through the right arm of Y into the field, later extending to center of the brow. At least five sets of faint clash marks from the hair in wreath, and from the neckline right of (N)E. Newcomb 1bb-c-B.
Newcomb was not aware of the earlier states in which the obverse crack does not reach the brow.
III. Crack joins AMER at or near tops, later extending nearly to the top of F. Newcomb 1bb-c-Bb, called by him extremely rare.
IV. Cracked along the nose through its tip to the rim. opposite the chin. Newcomb 1bb-d-Bb, Later, the crack extends through the brow and hair to E, still later to the rim. above B: Newcomb 1bb-e-Bb.
V. Clash marks from dentils through ICA and 100.
