Obverse 13. LIBERTY well to the right. LIB are very close and BERTY are more widely spaced. Point of curl below center of upright of B.

Reverse K. Five berries left and four right, with none opposite (N)T.

Die states: I. No obverse crack. Heavy double clash marks from leaves below the ribbon and before the throat.

Reverse cracked as in number 17 state V. Additional blurry clash marks from dentils near fraction. Extremely rare.

II. No obverse crack. Reverse is cracked from the rim to left ribbon end, stem, left bow, and E(N), to the right top of N(E). Rare.

III. Nearly straight obverse crack from the rim right of the date through drapery and bust, right field, later to the rim opposite the eye. Newcomb 13b-Kd.

IV. Obverse clash marks from AMERICA on right border. Heavy reverse clash marks from dentils through AMERICA.

Probably rare.

Remarks: Late states show axial misalignment with the weak areas at end of drapery and OF. The location of clash marks at state IV indicates that the obverse had become loose, clashed in that position, and then been repositioned. A later state may exist showing severe breakage at the right obverse or reverse.
