Obverse 13. One bead is centered above the loop of R: with two beads centered above T. Bases of BER are in line with ER almost touching, and T lower than Y. The base of 1 almost rests on a bead. Base of 7 points at a bead and nearly touches it. Pole is less than half its thickness away from the bust and its end points at the center of a bead. 96 beads.

Reverse J.

Die states: The die buckles behind the curls below the cap, and rapidly advances, explaining the immediate discard of this obverse. Reverse as preceding.

Equivalents: EAC 18. Encyclopedia 1647. Rarity 8. Only two known.

Remarks: Reported by R. E. Naftzger, Jr. in February 1978 as "NC-6." ("A New 1793 Liberty Cap Variety," Penny-Wise, no. 65, 3/15/1978, pp. 54-59.) Probably fewer than 60 were struck. The obverse must have lasted only an hour or two in the press.
