Obverse 8. Border is narrower at the upper right as on the preceding, and with the same flaw at 2:30.
Reverse D. Right stem and ribbon are much longer than the left. The left ribbon end and stem are crowded between u and the fraction bar. The denominator is spaced 1 00. Legend is far from the beads with a period after the final A. Only one outer trefoil is located on each branch, respectively opposite E(D) and R, and higher than the trefoils at C and T.
Die states.
I. Very narrow rim break outside the beading above UNITE, touching beads above NI. On some coins, wear or centering will not permit this to show. Central reverse bulge gradually develops.
II. Obverse beading entirely gone at the flaw at 2:30.
I have seen none with the "injury involving the beading above s or' mentioned by Sheldon.

Rarity 4.
Remarks: Discovered by George F. Seavey before 1869.
Probably struck April 13 encompassing about half of the 6,112 delivered that date. This reverse has affinities with reverse A of the 1793 half cents, suggesting that it may have been made near the latter in time.
An example is known (from the Milton Cohen Collection, lot 4) off-center at K-2. See "Oops!" Chapter.
