Obverse 4. In the date the Is are blunt and 01 is above 18.Base of L extends unusually far to the left. LIB are very close with bases of IB almost touching. (On worn or rough coins, these serifs may not show.) R is slightly low. Broken Y is repaired, looking almost normal. Delicate die scratch in the hair, "parallel to the locks brushed back to the bow,"!
Reverse C. Corrected Fraction. In the denominator, the 1 was corrected from a 0: 1/100 over 1/000.
Die states: 1. Perfect dies.
II. Traces of at least nine sets of clash marks before the face and throat. Newcomb 8-E.

III. Obverse clash marks are mostly faded out. Reverse has a narrow rim break above F A. Newcomb 8-Eb.
IV. Narrow rim breaks above AME.
V. Retained cud on STA with rim breaks above STA OF AME (discontinuous above left serifs of F and M). Centering or blurred dentils may not permit these rim breaks to show.
VI. Heavy rim break on STA, touching the entire top of T. Newcomb 8-Ec. McGirk 2B.
