Obverse 7. The date is evenly curved with blunt Is. LIB are close and BE are apart with the E lower and leaning left with its right base above R. Left base of y is broken. Point of curl is below the right side of upright of B.

Reverse I. The numerator is high and the long fraction bar does not cover 1 or the final O. The denominator is spaced 1 00 (the 1 and 0 are very far apart). Point of highest leaf is below the center of (E)S. Bases of ED are successively higher above the adjacent T. Right top of E(R) is repunched. Left base of (N)T is elongated.

Die states: I. Obverse has light clash marks from leaves near the ribbon and below the chin. Reverse has faint triple clash marks from the drapery near TES OF, one of the three sets displaced from the others by rotation. Newcomb 10-H.

II. Additional clash marks ground away: weak at the face, end of the drapery, and the right border. Reverse has at least six sets of clash marks from the profile at E RICA. Rim break above AME, touching M. McGirk 3G.

III. Reverse rim is just beginning to crumble on five dentils right of F.

IV. Cracked from the rim above 0 to the left top of F. Newcomb 10-Hb.

V. Rim break right of F. Newcomb 10-Hc.

Remarks: This is the commonest variety of the year, but is usually found in grades below BF.
