CoinFacts Narrative Update

The 24-karat 2014-W Gold Proof Kennedy Half Dollars were first sold by the U.S. Mint on August 5, 2014. The coin was struck to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy Half Dollar. When the 2014-W Gold Proof Kennedy Half Dollars first went on sale, the U.S. Mint instituted ordering restrictions and allowed customers to order only five coins per household, if ordering through the U.S. Mint website or over the phone. PCGS Set Registry Update

The American Women Quarters program ran from 2022 through 2025 honoring diverse female pioneers from the world of arts, music, politics, science, and social activism, to name a few. In 2024, the following five women were honored: Celia Cruz, Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, Patsy Takemoto Mink, Dr. Pauli Murray, and Zitkala-Sa. The coin featured above pays tribute to Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray, who was a 20th-century human rights activist, author, legal scholar, poet, and Episcopal priest. She earned a Doctor of Science of Law degree at Yale Law School and was a founder of the National Organization for Women. Dr. Murray also graduated at the top of her class at Howard University. This coin and several others are included in the new PCGS Set Registry listing titled Washington Quarters American Women, Circulation Strikes (2024). These coins have become popular with collectors, so good luck completing your sets!
