PCGS Set Registry Update

A praying mantis is a stick-like insect that belongs to the Mantodea family. It feeds on other insects as food. The mantis will move back and forth when camouflaged in vegetation to mimic foliage moving in the wind and to trap its prey. When the mantis feels threatened, it will stand on its hind legs and spread out its wings to give it a larger appearance. This insect has no chemical defense and it may also emit a sound from its trachea to thwart off potential threats. The mantis has influenced martial arts, poetry, jewelry, and in Africa they are considered good luck. Early Greek silver coinage has portrayed the mantis. The praying mantis has also made its way to Australian coinage in sporting fashion as shown above. This coin and many others exist within this PCGS Set Registry listing titled 2010 Australian One Dollar Circulation Strikes Aluminum Bronze Perth Mint Year Set.
