PCGS Set Registry Update

Many countries produce proof sets each year, Great Britain being among the issuing nations. Coins struck at the Royal Mint look sharp and are meticulously crafted. However, Great Britain didn't always produce proof sets each year as they do now. Some proof sets were only issued during special occasions, such as a coronation ceremony that crowns a king or queen. In 1927, the crown denomination was reintroduced after a 25-year hiatus, and it featured the effigy of King George V. The crown was the largest of six denominations struck in 1927 with a proof finish, though the fineness of silver coins was reduced to .500 from .925 (sterling). This beautifully toned crown shown above is part of the 1927 British Proof Set for collectors to consider building.

Additional sets from various countries have been added, so please feel free to browse the PCGS Set Registry when you have a chance and you may find there is a set for almost anyone to build. The PCGS Set Registry offers many different sets from all over the world and specialty sets for advanced collectors. We appreciate your continued patronage!
