The Philadelphia Mint made a reverse hub change resulting in minor adjustments to the 1892 Barber Quarter reverse. Some of the more obvious changes are on the eagle's left wing, where part of it covers most of the letter “E” in “UNITED.” Read more.
PCGS Set Registry Update
In 1917, the Trans-Australian Railway began a route that started in Port Augusta in South Australia to Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The length of this section of rail is a little over 1,000 miles, and it crosses the Nullarbor Plain -- known for its limestone bedrock. This segment of rail line located almost in the center of the country is the world's longest section of completely straight track. Port Augusta would go on to the city of Sydney and Kalgoorlie ends at Perth. It's important to note that the opening of this rail line connected Sydney to Perth or the East to the West. The Perth Mint struck a 2017 $1 coin in aluminum-bronze commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Trans-Australian Railway. This coin is part of the 2017 Australian One Dollar Circulation Strikes Aluminum Bronze Perth Mint Year Set.
