PCGS Set Registry Update
Queen Wilhelmina began her rule in 1890, later abdicating the throne in 1948 due to health issues. On September 4, 1948, Princess Juliana became queen of the Netherlands at the age of 39. She took over some duties that were expected from a queen prior to her official reign. Juliana's studies were concentrated in law, and she graduated with a degree in international law from the University of Leiden. She had met Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld at the 1936 Berlin Winter Olympics in Bavaria in February and they were shortly thereafter engaged on September 8, 1936. Queen Juliana was known for her kindness and humanitarian causes. Her reign lasted until April 30, 1980. That's when, at the age of 71, she abdicated the throne to her eldest daughter, Princess Beatrix. The colorful PCGS PR63CAM 1973 10 Gulden pictured above celebrates Juliana's 25th-year anniversary of her reign. This coin is part of the PCGS Set Registry listing titled Netherlands 10 Gulden Silver, Proof (1970-1973) for collectors to consider building.
