CoinFacts Narrative Update

The 1982 No P Roosevelt Dime was the first U.S. business-strike coin that accidentally left the U.S. Mint without its intended mintmark. Because of its missing mintmark, this coin is now worth hundreds of times more than its face value. The 1982 No P Roosevelt Dimes were originally discovered in December 1982. Most of the coins were initially located in Sandusky, Ohio, where approximately 8,000 to 10,000 coins were reportedly found.   Read more.

PCGS Set Registry Update

In 1999, the United States Mint struck 39 gold Sacagewea Dollar proof pattern coins, and they were displayed at a private congressional dinner on August 5, 1999. These gold coins were struck to commemorate the first space shuttle flight commanded by a woman, with Eileen Collins from the United States Air Force helming that mission. Twelve of the best-quality coins were selected to be certified by PCGS and labeled "2000-W SAC$1 J-2190 22kt Gold Space Flown," as these coins were flown in space aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia. Twenty-seven of the pieces that were not selected for the flight were destroyed. Five of the remaining coins will be archived in the United States heritage collection or other public institutions and will not be available for public sale. Only seven of these coins were available in an auction setting via Stack's Bowers Galleries on September 12, 2025, in a live auction. More information about the history of these coins may be found at Stack's Bowers Galleries' website. PCGS Set Registry has added this space-flown rarity to a new listing titled Sacagawea Dollars Eagle in Flight Reverse with Gold Space Flown Pattern, Proof (2000-2008).
