PCGS Set Registry Update
One of the first railway systems in Mexico, the Mexican Railway was set up and owned by Great Britain before railroads were nationalized. Shortly after the Mexican Revolution was over, between 1929 and 1937, railways were nationalized by the government of Mexico. In 1950, the Southeastern Railroad opened from Mexico City to the Yucatan Peninsula up to Port Progreso. This railway line played an integral role in increasing international trade for the country of Mexico. Medals are generally struck to commemorate special occasions. The medal shown above was struck in 1950 to honor the Pan-American Railway 7th Congress that was held in Mexico during October. This medal is part of the Silver Medals of Mexico, Specimen (1950-1971) set that has recently been listed for collectors to consider building.
Additional sets from various countries have been added, so please feel free to browse the PCGS Set Registry when you have a chance and you may find there is a set for almost anyone to build. The PCGS Set Registry offers many different sets from all over the world and specialty sets for advanced collectors. We appreciate your continued patronage!
