The 1879-S Liberty $10 Gold Eagle has a relatively modest mintage for the series. However, it appears as if the majority of the mintage circulated, since uncirculated examples are very scarce. Probably no more than 200 or so uncirculated examples exist in all grades combined. Even in MS63 condition it is very scarce, with less than dozen examples or so known. Anything grading above MS63 is considered rare.
