Judd 1492 is a unique pattern of an 1876 $20 gold piece. Originally struck in copper with a plain edge, this coin was later gold-plated (whether the gilting was done inside or outside of the Mint is unknown and irrelevant). This particular example's pedigree starts with the King Farouk Collection and ends with the Bob R. Simpson Collection (who has built the most complete collection of U.S. Pattern coins in modern history). Various grading events for this coin have placed it anywhere from PR61 to PR64; in it's current iteration it is graded PCGS MS63+).
