David Akers (1975/88): Proofs are very rare, somewhat rarer than those dated 1862, 1863, or 1864. There is also a transitional pattern of this date struck in gold with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST added above the eagle. Two pieces were struck; one in the Smithsonian Institution and the other was last publically accounted for at the Farouk Sale.
