The authors present a wealth of information including illustrations of original mailing envelopes, folders, etc., in which commemoratives were distributed.

The primary source in print for background information concerning the designs and modeling of commemorative half dollars, much of which consists of reprinted correspondence to and from members of the Commission of Fine Arts. This was the source of many quotations from this correspondence reproduced in the present text.
