The introduction to the James O. Sloss Collection catalogue, October 21, 1959, featured the "Money Talks" format.

The Sloss Collection featured many outstanding United States large cents, highlighted by Lot 50, which realized a record $10,500.

"Today, the Indian head cent goes begging, today these coins sell for a greater percentage discount from catalogue values than any other series 11 the book-except possibly for Lincoln cents. Next year it may be the Buffalo nickels that are unpopular or Mercury dimes. The danger is that he series in which you specialize may be just the me which is not in favor at a time when you want o sell. If you have been able to collect in several series, then you have a better chance of having me series that is popular at the moment. It's the old story of having all your eggs in one basket.

"Type collecting has continued to grow in popularity. Unlike any special series, the line on the chart goes upwards all the time. If ever it drops it will be because all of the coins in every series are dropping as well.
