CoinFacts Narrative Update

The 24-karat gold 2014-W Proof Kennedy Half Dollar was officially released by the U.S. Mint on August 5, 2014. The coin was struck to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy Half Dollar. Each coin is composed of 99.99% pure gold and contains about three-quarters of an ounce of gold. The design of the coin has been restored to more closely resemble the original design seen on the 1964 Kennedy Half Dollars. Read more.

PCGS Set Registry Update

The fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II was designed by master engraver Ian Rank-Broadley. Rank-Broadley's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II first made its appearance on coinage in 1998, which was struck at the Royal Mint of London. Rank-Broadley was awarded a scholarship to study at the British School of Rome where he was able to work in a studio to further develop his skills as an artist. One of his most famous sculptures is the Armed Forces Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum, unveiled in 2007. In 2008, he received the Marsh Award for Excellence in Public Sculpture for this masterpiece. He left the Royal Mint in 2015, but his body of work exists across coinage from many countries. This PCGS PR68DCAM 10 Cents is part of the 2012 Solomon Islands Silver Proof Set that PCGS recently listed, and it features Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

Additional sets from various countries have been added, so please feel free to browse the PCGS Set Registry when you have a chance and you may find there is a set for almost anyone to build.
