This rare Pattern coin combines a Gen. Washington obverse with a Confederatio reverse. The Gen. Washington obverse was also combined on a different coin with a New Jersey reverse, producing Maris 4-C, thus indicating an interesting link between the New Jersey and Confederatio patterns. The Confederatio reverse used here is of the Large Stars variety.
We know of six demonstrably different examples, the finest of which is the PCGS AU53 in the William Anton Collection (illustrated above). A seventh specimen is believed to be in the Massachusetts Historical Society Collection, but its existence has not been confirmed.
