The so-called "Type I" style of the Nova Constellatio silver "500" pattern is unique. Its pedigree includes Parmelee, Ellsworth, Garrett, and John Ford. The Type I is the same design as the other Nova Constellatios while the Type II has a somewhat different design. In the November, 1979 Garrett auction this coin was purchased by John Ford for $165,000, a very big price at the time.
