There are six types of "Nova Constellatio" coin patterns, arguably the first patterns for a United States coinage. Interestingly, all six are privately held (there are seven individual coins, as there are two known of the "decorated edge" silver "100"). The copper "5" is unique and is pedigreed to the John Ford collection.

P. Scott Rubin: The 1783 Nova Consellatio “5” Copper is the most historically important Half Cent ever struck for the government of the United States. A unique coin, unseen for over one hundred and ninety years, until its re-discovery in Europe in 1977. While the silver coins for the same proposed decimal series have been considered monumental since at least the 1870’s when Sylvester Crosby wrote about them in his landmark book "Early Coins of America", the copper issue was forgotten about. It was not until John J. Ford, Jr. was able to buy this coin thru private sale and at auction acquire the Garrett 100, 500 and 1000 silver coins that the set struck in 1783 was reunited. Sometime in 2007 the set was sold privately by Stack’s for the Ford Family Trust to its current un-named owner. The owner(s) have put this remarkable four coin set on exhibit at the ANA conventions and the Whitman Philadelphia Coin Show.
