David Akers (1975/88):
The Tall 5 variety of 1811 is moderately more rare than the Small 5 variety in all grades. However, it is at the uncirculated level that the difference is the greatest and, based on the number of auction appearances over the last half century (337 catalogues surveyed since 1921), the Tall 5 variety is approximately twice as rare as the 1811 Small 5 in mint state. The 1811 Tall 5 is far more rare in choice uncirculated condition than the 1807, 1809/8, 1810 Large Date, Large 5, or the 1812 and is nearly as hard to obtain as the underrated 1808/7 and 1810 Small Date, Tall 5.
