Judd 1725 is an unusual prototype design for a Five Cent piece made of aluminum, with an octagonal hole punched through the center of the coin. The design is very simple, consisting of legends, thirteen stars, two shields, and a date. This indicates that the emphasis was more on the shape of the coin than the thematic elements.
There may exist as many as a dozen Judd 1725's. Most are Cameo Proofs, though quite a few of the holdered examples were certified before NGC and PCGS began recognizing the Cameo designation. It is doubtful if any Deep Cameo examples exist. The finest Judd 1725's of which we are aware are a pair of PCGS PR66+CAM's (one of which is in the famed collection of Bob Simpson).
