The $50 2016-W Burnished Gold Eagles were officially offered by the U.S. Mint beginning on April 07, 2016. The coins had an issue price $1,525 each. The coins were well struck and most examples ranged between MS69 to MS70.

The Mint also offered a $50 Uncirculated Gold Eagle without a "w" mint mark which was not sold to collectors but only to Mint bulk authorized purchasers. It also offered a $50 proof version to collectors.
