The Mint began sales of the 2012 Kennedy Half Dollars on May 15, 2012. The coins did not enter circulation and were only offered to the public at a premium over face value.
The Mint offered the coins in 200 coin bags at an issue price of $139.95 for each bag. Each bag contained 100 coins from the Philadelphia Mint and 100 from the Denver Mint.
The Mint also offered 2-20 coin roll sets and had an issue price of $32.95 for the 2-20 coin roll set. Each 20 coin roll set had 20 coins from the Philadelphia Mint and the second from the Denver Mint.
