The 1943-P Doubled Die obverse is one of three major Doubled Die coins in the Jefferson Nickels series. It is also the only Doubled Die in the series which has the doubling on the obverse.

The doubling is mostly prominent on Jefferson's eye, and it appears as if he has two left eyes. The doubling is also evident on the inscriptions, LIBERTY, 1943 and IN GOD WE TRUST. The doubling is not as prominent as it is on the 1939 Doubled Die reverse but is it is strong enough to see with a 5 power magnifying glass.
