Although hundreds of millions of examples were struck, the 1987-D Jefferson Nickel is scarce in MS66 condition with the Full Steps designation. In MS67 Full Steps it is rare, despite having a very large mintage. Any example in MS67 Full Steps, should be sent in to be graded.
