In the 2008 the U.S. Mint offered a third different finish for the Gold Eagle coin series. It offered the regular Uncirculated and Proof coins as it does monstly every year. Adittionally, it also offered a special Burnished Uncirculated 2008-W Gold. Sales were low due to several Mint offerings during the year. This included the new Fractional Gold Buffalos. With so many gold coins available sales were low for this particular issue.
