The 1867 Three-Cent Silver has one of the lowest mintages of the entire series. Only 4,000 examples were made for circulation, plus 625 Proofs for sale to collectors. This fact alone makes it difficult to locate an example in any grade, especially in circulated condition. In Mint State, the 1867 has one of the lowest populations in the entire series, comparable to the 1868 and even the extra-rare 1872. Until several years ago, this date was unknown in MS67. In recent years, a couple of spectacular Gems have arrived on the market, including a superb PCGS MS67+.

The typical 1867 Three Cent Silver is well-struck and shows no clash marks. The finest examples (as illustrated here) have exceptional color and eye appeal.
