This is the second year the U.S. Mint struck $50 Gold Buffaloes. Mintages for this issue are much lower than the previous year. More than lilkely the 2006 Buffaloes were more popular because they were a first year of issue coin.
The Bullion Uncirculated Gold Buffaloes were only sold to Mint Authorized purchasers who in return sold the coins to the public. The coins were authorized by Public Law:109-45.
