Obverse 5. C. UH. C. X. RT are apart with T low and leaning left, repunching visible on its right pendant. All numerals lean left. Repunching on inner point of first star.

Reverse E. R. PR. C NC The position of the leaf between S O is diagnostic. UNI touch at tops and ITED are more closely spaced than on other 1810 dies. In STATES, (S)T leans right with its base below A; AT almost touch at bases, TE almost touch at tops and bases. RI about touch with I lower. Berry below center of A(M).

Die states: I. Perfect dies. Smith (1985) state 1.

II. Perfect obverse. Reverse clash mark from the profile left of O(N) and c(E).

III. Raised inner ridge next to the border on both sides.

Gash marks from leaves before nose. Reverse clash marks as preceding but clearer. All these clash marks fade and dentils become increasingly blurred. Raised inner ridge next to dentlls on obverse and reverse. Smith (1985) state 2.

IV. Rust between date and 13th star.

Remarks: Reverse somewhat resembles 1811 reverse A.

On lighter strikings, leaf point below C(A) is between positions NL and NC

Late in state II, axial misalignment weakened the lower right obverse and upper right reverse.

Auction appearances (mostly in upper grades) are if anything slightly more frequent than for numbers 3 and 4.
