This has been described as the dullest year in the lot.

Part of its reputation has come from the varieties being hard to identify with none rare enough to provide much incentive. However, 1810 has its surprises.

One of the surprises was that the most astute variety hounds did not notice the naked-eye difference in obverse dentils. So much of what we see is only what we expect to.

The biggest surprise is the tin "restrike" with the same reverse as the 1804 "restrike." This is described below.
