CoinFacts Narrative Update

The incredible MS68 1906-S $5 Liberty, pictured above, is the finest-recorded example. Unlike many other examples seen, it is fully struck, including all the obverse stars. Its pristine surfaces display full blazing mint luster of orange yellow gold. What separates this coin from perfection, and identifies it for posterity, are some small flan flaws between stars 10 and 11. Read more.

PCGS Set Registry Update

The Onza series has been popular for many years and the obverse design displays the Winged Liberty, which was first released in 1982. The reverse shows an eagle with a snake tightly grasped within its beak. Onza in the Spanish language translates into one ounce, these coins contain an ounce of .999-fine silver, and they are popular with collectors. Each year a new Onza coin is released in a proof and uncirculated finish. Gold Onzas have been released as well over the years in limited quantities and can be difficult to find. In 1996, the obverse and reverse of the coin were redesigned. Over the years, new varieties have been discovered, and some of them are very difficult to find. Collectors have continued to embrace new releases, and the audience for this series continues to enjoy steady growth. The coin pictured above is the 1987 Mexico Onza Libertad with the "Doubled Die Obverse" designation, which is one of a few varieties that can be found in the newly listed set titled Mexican Onza Silver with Varieties, Circulation Strikes (1982-present). Members will find this set challenging to complete as some varieties are not readily available in the marketplace.

Additional sets from various countries have been added, so please feel free to browse the PCGS Set Registry when you have a chance and you may find there is a set for almost anyone to build. The PCGS Set Registry offers many different sets from all over the world and specialty sets for advanced collectors. We appreciate your continued patronage!
