Obverse 2. DE. B. C. LE. 1811/10. Last two Is were first punched inverted (rotated 180°) then corrected; the second 1 is low and leans left, with its top close to 8. T repunched and leans left. Top lock has an extra curl, steeper than in 1808-10 dies, similar to obverse 1. Small lumps in the field between 0 and last star.
Reverse B.. NR. NR. C. NC. "Dash" (die gouge) below upright and left foot of (N)E. E(D) repunched, first entered too high then corrected with extra top still plain. S(T) is low, Ar are apart, and ES are high. Minute die chip in the field below the space between UN. Extra points on upper inside serifs of N(E) and N(r). Broken N punches as in 1810.
Die states: I. No clash marks. A bulge develops at the rim below 11.
II. Blurry clash marks develop right of (N)E and (N)T. Equivalents: Proskey 1. Doughty 215. McGirk 1A. Clapp 1. Sheldon 286. EAC 2. Encyclopedia 1782.
Rarity 3.
Remarks: Usually dark and on rough or defective planchets. These planchets may have been damaged by bilgewater or salt spray enroute from England.
This reverse reappears on 1812 number 1.
