The November 1809 Boulton shipment of planchetsran out in March 1811, after deliveries totaling 218,025. No more blanks arrived until May 1812. Part of the recorded delivery may have included cents dated 1810.
Previous writers placed the overdate as the first of the two varieties. Available evidence suggests that the normal date came first, the overdate later:
1) the overdate shares a reverse with 1812 number 1;
2) the reverse of the normal date closely resembles one of the 1810 dies.
