This series popular with collectors even though there is a major stopper in the set with the 1867 Rays. Many of the coins in this set are found with a frosty appearance that is more characteristic of a business strike than a proof, but that's the way of nickel coinage in the 1870s and 1880s. Deeply reflective or frosty, this series is composed of an attractive and historic coin and that means popularity.
